The Funeral!

Well, last night I was able to attend my own funeral! It was so hilarious! I thought that I was going to my nephew's birthday party but it ended up that I walked into my sister's house and I was seated and handed a program to my own funeral. Everyone was wearing black and the table in front was set with pictures of me and a vase full of Calalilies. The program had a horrible picture of me and said, "Beloved years of youth, we will truly miss you. 40 years down, many more to come". It started with some prelude music (Celebrate, by Cool and the Gang), which if you know me that song is sooo me and one of my favorite songs of all time. My dad did the opening remarks. He told everyone stories about me as a younger child. He's so funny because he wasn't prepared to make any comments at all. At the end he started talking about butterflies because there was one above my picture on the program and how they start in a cocoon and turn into beautiful butterflies. Then he started talking about the mayfly and how short their lives are in comparison to the butterfly. My dad majored in zoology and somehow he has retained everything he has ever learned. Anyway, he related that to my life hoping my life would be like the butterfly. My mom spoke of past boyfriends and what an ordeal it was for her. I must tell you it was a bit uncomfortable because of some of the stories that were told of old boyfriends, how mean of a boss I was when I worked for the family, and how fired up I get (just like most members of the family)! But I knew that they were all joking around and it was so funny that I cried. Leah probably cried the most though! Meliah said, "Aunt Leah is a really good actress!" Aaron was so sweet and ended it by telling a story of how when we first met we went to same Unity Conference and that we ended up in different groups. He told about a little hike that we went on and and how somehow he chose outer darkness and I chose the Celestial kingdom and how I was able to come down and bring him back to the celestial kingdom. He said that I have been helping him with the spiritual things for our whole marriage. He is so sweet but really he's the one that keeps me trying so hard, because of his example. I sure love my family! They are so funny and it was definately a birthday party I will never forget (unless, of course I lose my memory soon, which is very possible since I'm getting so old).

Easter, a new bed, a pregnant cat and random stuff

I am so grateful that my kids love their cousins so much and that they have so many that live close by. This is Lizzy and Bella on Easter day walking together.


Oh, how would it be to experience excitement like a kid again! (even about bubbles!)









Easter was great! We had sooo many easter egg hunts and there is so much candy in our house it's insane. Here are some of the pictures of Saturday and Sunday of Easter weekend.


We got a new bed from my mom and dad and we love it! It is beautiful! It's so nice to have a little more pride in our bedroom, it stays cleaner and I actually make the bed everyday. It is so high up and so big! We are so grateful for it!

Our Cat is pregnant and she is looking so chubby! She is an amazing cat that has been a good companion to Lizzy while the other kids are in school. She lets Lizzy hold her and hug her all the time. We are really looking forward to her having kittens! It will be fun for the kids to see the miracle of birth. A few months back Christian was having a lot of questions about you know "sex" and he asked us, "How do cats have babies, because they are always naked?" We had a little talk with him about the birds and the bees, Aaron did an amazing job! Hopefully we'll get to see Shelby give birth.

I woke Christian up the other morning and had to take a picture cuz he looked like little red riding hood. I have no idea how his blanket got like this but I thought it was pretty funny. The other day he got hit in the face with a play gun by his cousin, Bradford who will be 3 this week. He's a funny little kid! Christian actually really likes that he has a mark on his face, he thinks he might get a cool scar. He didn't want any sunscreen at his game the other night. He has been doing super good in the Minors. The 2 times he has pitched he has taken over with the bases full and only 1 run out of the six came in. They have a kid on their team that hit 2 home runs in one game and 1 in the last game (2 of those times the bases were full)! It's so fun to watch!


Lizzy got to go to the temple with us on Friday, thanks to my parents who brought her about the same time our session was over. We had a little picnic there on the beautiful temple grounds and enjoyed the perfect weather while Lizzy fed the geese.

Easter Egg Hunt

We colored eggs this morning and the kids have been having Easter egg hunts all day! They are very good at finding eggs! I am so grateful for my kids, they are so enthusiastic and give me so much joy! They are trying to earn money to go to Disneyland with Grandma. It has been a good insight to their personalities and their shyness. The project for this week is making bread and cinamon rolls for friends and neighbors. The kids walked around the neighborhood and sold to everyone they talked to! 100% success without Christian or Elizabeth saying a word. Meliah did all the talking (pretty much) and didn't seem to mind. I have really appreciated the small things lately, partly due to some of the conference messages and partly due to knowing that I have this time only once. But probably more than anything, I'm able to focus on them more than I've ever been able to before. The Easter egg has so much significance to the meaning of Easter. We have a set of eggs that my mom made for us that I love. It helps the kids to have a little fun and to hear about the resurrection at the same time. The eggs are numbered and they each have an item and scripture in them that tells of the story of the resurrection. The last egg is empty with the scripture in Matthew 28:6, "He is not here: for he is risen". I know that on the 3rd day after he was mocked and scourged and crucified that he was risen. I know that he lives and that we need to follow him, trust in him and try a little harder to be a little better!

Our history!

I've seen this on a few blogs and I thought this was a neat thing for history sake. I don't know if I have ever really recorded these things and felt it important to do it. I love my husband so much and am so grateful for the things we have been through together, he is my best friend, he makes me happy and I am so grateful to have him for eternity!

Aaron and I met at a dance. We were both dating other people. I thought he was really cute and we did talk for a bit but that was all. His dad takes all the credit for us getting together because he introduced us while playing volleyball at the stake center in Chico. I finally introduced myself to him because he was just too shy (he says intimidated).

2. WHAT WAS YOUR FIRST DATE?
October Conference at the Ward building in Oroville. First kiss was out at the ranch in Bangor at my sister, Kathryn's homecoming.


3. HOW LONG DID YOU DATE BEFORE YOU GOT ENGAGED?
2 1/2 months - I knew right away he was a keeper!


4. HOW DID YOUR FIANCE PROPOSE?
He gave me a bell for Christmas that had the ring hanging from the clacker. With the bell was a note that said, "shake this bell for the ring of your life". He then kneeled down and asked me to marry him. I didn't catch on and just started ringing the bell and tried to act really excited about it (but wasn't until I realized what was really happening).


5. WHAT JOBS DID YOU TWO HAVE WHILE YOU WERE ENGAGED?
Aaron was working at Winco as a cashier in Chico and I was teaching 3rd grade in Yuba City and coaching basketball at Gridley High.


6. HOW LONG WERE YOU ENGAGED?
Five(long) months.


7. HOW OLD WERE YOU WHEN YOU GOT MARRIED?
I was 29 and Aaron was 23.


8. WHEN DID YOU GET MARRIED?
May 30, 1998... time has gone by so fast.


9. WHAT WERE YOUR COLORS?
Lavendar and yellow


10. HOW MANY BRIDESMAIDS DID YOU HAVE?
eight bridemaids and as many groom's men as well.


11. WHO WAS YOUR MAID OF HONOR?
I don't think I had one! Oh! Maybe Terri cuz she stood out so much. She was 8 months pregnant. (She got me back though, she asked me to be her maid of honor when I was 9 months pregnant with Elizabeth).

Good ol' John Mohr! Gotta love him!

I don't remember! I do remember singing "Tea for Two" with him on one of our first dates and thinking, "Wow, he has a nice voice".


15. DID ANYTHING GO WRONG AT THE WEDDING OR RECEPTION?
No! It was so perfect! Aaron didn't like that an ex-boyfriend caught, or should I say fought, for the garter.


16. WHAT CAR DID YOU LEAVE IN AND WHAT DID IT LOOK LIKE?

17. WHERE DID YOU GO FOR YOUR HONEYMOON?
To Shingle Springs on the coast and then to Mexico a few months later when school was out.

Sitting across the alter of the temple looking at Aaron and knowing he is my eternal companion.

19. WOULD YOU HAVE CHANGED ANYTHING IF YOU COULD?
You can always change something for the better, but it's always better to look forward and try to better with what's to come.


20. HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN MARRIED?
It will be 11 years this May.

Whew! I'm so glad it's FRIDAY!

Wow! It's been a long week! I'm so happy that it's Friday. I have subbed all week and somehow managed to keep the house from turning up-side down (thank you Aaron). Eventhough we have been in survival mode all week we did survive, no one was forgotten and we are all still alive, thanks to my mom and dad, Dominica, Amanda, and my sister Kathryn. I was definately an airhead about several things but it all worked out okay. A couple of things I learned this week... teachers really don't get paid enough and aren't appreciated enough (I'm not really a teacher, so I can say that)and I am so grateful that I can stay home and take care of my children and that I'm not working full time! I love being a mom to my children, but not really to everyone else's kids!

Christian's Mission and report were due on Monday (which we made out of sand and cement... I don't recommend this, it was soo heavy!) He did get an A+ but in all, seriously, who deserves the grade? Afterall, how many times did I remind him to do it? How much of it did he really do? Okay, so he really didn't care as much as I did and he knew it, so he took advantage! Oh well! It's over and I'm so grateful.

On Wednesday, April Fools day, I made cupcakes for dinner (I saw the idea in Family Fun). The kids were a little confused and said,"April fools, right?" But what they didn't realize was that the cupcakes were made out of meatloaf and mashed potatoes! It was cute to see their funny faces and their comments. They informed me that they did really like the meatloaf and mashed potatoes eventhough it wasn't what they expected!

Kerri and my friend Emily took some pictures at Elizabeth's birthday party. I have a camera now but I didn't at the time so it was very nice of them to take them and give them to me. We had a Warren cousins party on the Friday the 13th and the weather was perfect for the kids to play outside and bounce on the bounce house and play basketball. The next day the kids went to Cinderella (High School production in Gridley) with Grandma Warren and a bunch of cousins. They loved it! Aaron and I stayed at home and got ready for another party with some good friends and Aaron's side of the family. There are just too many kids on my side of the family to have one party! Anyway, Saturday was nice but a little cold! We let the kids play for a little bit, ate and then came back to the house for some games. I should have switched and just had the Saturday one at home too, but it was an adventure and Lizzy loved her parties and all her presents! She was pretty sick after her parties for a few days... it's nice to have her in good health again. One night I sat by the tub in the bathroom with her for about 2 hours... ugh!

Happy Birthday Elizabeth!

I sure do love my little girl. She is an amazing little munchkin with so much personality. These are the things that we all love so much about Lizzy Lou!

*She is always wanting to do whatever I am doing, and as a result knows how to do
many of the chores in the house. She folds laundry, washes dishes, vacuums,
cleans the mirrors and sinks and even gets her own breakfast.

*She is a cutting machine. We don't even need a paper shredder because she cuts
things into such small pieces.

*She loves puzzles and will put the same one together several times in a row.

*She loves avocados, green beans, carrots, broccoli, tomatoes and most vegitables.

*She loves when I substitute teach because she knows she'll get to spend the day at Grandma and Grandpa's house to play with all the special toys!

*She has two best friends that are her cousins on both sides of the family (Isabella and Grace)

*She can write her name legibly, counts to 29 and can recognize all the letters of the alphabet. (She's so ready for kindergarten... but still has another year with momma)

*I often see her singing in the car to some familiar tune with such conviction and seriousness in her face it gives me a laugh. (maybe too much american idol)
