Are we really at the end of May?

I can't believe how quickly May has flown by! We have been so busy with what turned out to be Meliah's 8th birthday which was Cinco de Mayo but turned out to be a month long affair! She hasn't even been baptised yet so I'm sure that the celebration will continue. Anyway, here are some of the pictures of her huge birthday party with so many friends and family it was amazing! Thank you to everyone who came, helped out and made it such an amazing and memorable birthday for her.

Sweet Laura found a frog and was able to stay entertained by it at the end of the party. She is such a critter girl!

The favorite of the party was definately the bounce, waterslide! It was a blast to watch the kids...

I sure wish they'd have had stuff like this when I was a kid. I remember a lot of water fights and picking 25 of my mom's gray hairs for a penny a hair so I could go down to the public pool for 25 cents. But I do remember that feeling of being soo excited about something that I couldn't contain myself! If only we could keep being so real about our emotions as we turn into adults.

The pics are great! I do love the one of Laura and the frog. She loves critters. It's fun to see photos of my girls with all the other kids. And tell Aaron thanks about the Hazel house. We appreciate everyone's support. We love you guys!

That is the coolest cupcake ever!!!! (I love Strawberry Shortcake)I was wondering how you were going to feed a million people with that One cupcake...but then I saw the little ones for everybody.DUH?
Happy May...pretty soon it will be June, summer vacation, Christian's b-day, D-land& D-world, cub camp...it only gets busier!

My parenting plan!!

I have been thinking a lot lately of what I need to teach my kids to help them become independant physically, spiritually and mentally so when they turn 18 they will be able to survive on their own. The last 9 years has flown by so quickly I can't believe it. Nine more years and my first child will be old enough to be on his own. That is a real wake up call for a mother who hasn't prepared her children for those important days. I realize that I have gone on way to long without a list of what needs to be learned and done by what age so that my kids will not be horrified when they get out into the world alone. So, I've come up with a list of most everything I can think of that would be important for my kids to know and learn and what ages they should be capable. Of course, every child is different and is capable of different things at different ages. Some learn things faster and are more motivated. Others would like to just live in the home cave for the rest of their lives and have no motivation to do any of it. So, I am including my fairly flexible plan. But if you let too many years slip by, you may need to up the work to fit everything in. I got most of my ideas from a very experienced LDS author (Merilee Boyack) who has raised several children successfully! So, hopefully you find this as helpful as I do!
