For spring break Aaron took a couple of days off and we spent some time together. We went to the movie Rio in 3D and spent the night in the backyard together. It was the worst night we could of done the outdoor thing because it rained all night. The kids loved it anyway. We also were able to visit the Exploratorium in San Francisco. We all enjoyed it so much! I learned or re-learned a bunch of things that I had forgotten and we all just had a blast there. We could have spent another day there.

Mother's Day

I am so blessed to be a mother. I am grateful for my kids and their different personalities. It was a wonderful mother's day! I am also so grateful for my mother who has always been my best friend, even when I didn't realize it.

Happy Birthday 10-year old

Meliah is 10 today! We got her a dog for her birthday and she loves it. It is a one-year-old Snauszer (I guess I better learn how to spell that). It has been the sweetie little dog. We haven't heard her bark or complain about anything. That's exactly what Meliah wanted and I think it will be so good for her. Lizzy has loved little Brigget too, which is nice. They curled up together today and took a nap.


Meliah is in the 4th grade at Luther School. She loves her teacher, Mr. Stewart. She looks forward to lots of field trips in the next couple weeks. She enjoys playing the piano and reading into the wee late hours of the night. She has been such a help with Elizabeth and has taught her many words just by continuing to read to her nightly. She is like a little mom. She is our early riser and is always the first to be ready for school. She loves fashion and she sings constantly. She has memorized several songs word for word (especially Taylor Swift songs). She loves to sing, "Steven" and "Love Story" and we love her voice! She gave a family Home Evening lesson the other night and had us listen to a song she likes and had us talk about what we felt it meant and what we could learn from it. She is a breathe of fresh air with her goodness and charity. She is constantly leaving little notes and candies on our pillows at night. The other night we found snap peas on our pillows because she knows that we love to pick them right out of the garden and eat them.

Lizzy's birthday celebrations

Elizabeth's birthday was a 2 day party! She had a bunch of little girls from her kindergarten class come over to celebrate on Saturday and then the family all came on Sunday for a big party.

Suppose it was us...

I found this poem the other day and it made me get really emotional. I'm not sure of the author but would love to give credit. It helps to express my feelings for something so unexpected and I wanted to remember my emotion and feelings that I have had for those who have lost so much. My prayer and heart goes out to the people of Japan.

My baby is 6!

Elizabeth always put everything in her mouth and it grossed me out. I would turn around for a second and she would have something off the floor in her mouth. She has put everything from peeled ABC gum off the floor at Walmart to grandpa's holistic vitamins. In some ways it has really been a blessing because the only thing she just won't eat (as far as food goes) is purple onions. She loves avocados, broccoli, carrots, tomatoes and other things I've never been able to get the other kids to eat. She choked on a little foam barn that was attached to a necklace that she had made. When I realized what was happening I lifted her up and began yelling, "Heavenly Father, help me!!!!" The barn popped out! Christian and Meliah sat there with their jaws dropped and asked me if that was a prayer. I said, "Yes, I guess so, because it worked."


Lizzy Lou is 6 tomorrow! We had a party with the girls in her kindergarten class today. I can't believe how time flies! We were watching home videos tonight and it really made me realize how quickly this 6 years has gone by. She was a blessing to our family in every way! I had a miscarriage a little while prior to getting pregnant with Elizabeth and to have her born was a ray of sunshine to me and the rest of the family. We always sang, "You are my sunshine" to her while she was still inside of me. We think that's why she was born with blond hair and light eyes. We tell people we forgot to re-fill the ink cartridge but we know that Heavenly Father wanted to send us a little ball of sunshine and it just wouldn't fit to have her be dark. She has always been a pleasure to be around and really just goes with the flow. Meliah and Christian have been great friends and teachers to her. She has tried to imitate them from day one.

Lizzy has lost 2 teeth already this year... which is really strange for one of our kids. "The Tooth Fairy" aka daddy, gave her $5 for one of her teeth that she got out before she went to the dentist the next day. (Daddy didn't want the dentist to charge us for pulling it!)



I think I better write a few stories about her so I don't forget them or not know which child said or did what. She was at that stage that she would bump her head on the side mirrors of cars a lot and it was frustrating to her. After a few bumps in one day, she looked up at me and said, "Why do cars have ears?!!" I realized that she may have thought we were saying ears when really, we were saying mirrors.



6 year old Lizzy loves to do puzzles, to play a drawing game with her family and to cuddle. She is enjoying her kindergarten class with Mrs. Dempsey. Her class made her a birthday book for her birthday. Elizabeth is quite the artist and is doing very well with reading so far. She loves to play tricks on people and is really excited about starting T-ball this year. Aaron is coaching her team.
